On January 13, 2021, the National Advocacy Committee for Public Policy (NAC-PP), supported by Afghanistan Public Policy Research Organization (APPRO) as its Secretariat, convened a webinar to discuss possibilities for establishing multiple diplomacy tracks for Afghanistan’s peace process. The panelists, Dr. Sima Samar (member of UN High-Level Advisory Board on Mediation), Dr. Mohammad Amin Ahmadi (member of the Afghan negotiating team in Doha, Qatar), Ms. Narges Nehan (Director, Equality Peace and Democracy), and Dr. Saeed Parto (Director of Research, APPRO) discussed the many challenges of the current peace process, particularly the exclusiveness of the high-level negotiations in Doha, the absence of systematic representation of civil society, and the need for better coordination, cooperation and collaboration among Afghanistan’s many civil society organizations in pursuit of peace.
