On Shaky Grounds: COVID-19, Peace Process, and Development

This research paper was prepared by Afghanistan Public Policy Research Organization (APPRO) and commissioned by Friedrich-Ebert- Stiftung (FES). It examines the impact of COVID-19 on capacities for sustainable peace, focusing on the multifaceted consequences of the pandemic in the economic, social and political arenas at the national level, how the pandemic intersects with the peace process and the implications for international stakeholders. The paper concludes with recommendations for ways forward in assessing and addressing the governance implications of COVID-19 and its impact on the peace process.
