The Cross-Certified course on Policy and Institutional Analysis, delivered by APPRO in partnership with Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), started on August  9, 2018, and will run for six days until August 18, 2018. Funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), this course is a key component of APPRO’s NAP 1325 Monitor project.

About the course:

The course is designed for practitioners interested in the dynamics of decision making at different scales of organization and in varying contexts. It introduces the participants to the fundamentals of policy and institutional analysis in the public, private, and non-profit sector organizations. The participants will gain in-depth appreciation of different methods, theories, and practical tools to deconstruct complex policy choice problems in different settings and to identify and evaluate viable policy alternatives. By the end of this course the participants will:

  • Understand the various ways in which policy analysts (should) frame policy problems
  • Be capable of applying a systemic and systematic perspective to policy problem solving
  • Be capable of analytical reasoning and communication

On successful completion of the course, the participants will be awarded 5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits through Ruhr University Bochum (Germany).
