About the Course
Decision makers in government, multi-lateral agencies, NGOs and private enterprises continually have to make choices in organizational settings to either effect change or adapt to change in order to address societal problems. Program and project management consists of practical tools for making and implementing choices while monitoring and evaluating their outcomes.
This course is designed for skills development in, and practice of, program and project management. The participants will learn about program and project choice making and management under different pressures, interactions with other actors, limitations, and priorities that collectively generate specific program and project outcomes.
The participants will be introduced to the main case-based theoretical models for problem definition, program and project design, and monitoring and evaluation as a means to become technically equipped to develop a critical sense about the limits of their ability and resources in designing and implementing programs and projects. Importantly, the participants will learn how to communicate their expertise concisely and convincingly in written and verbal forms, in particular through writing an ECHO proposal (the so-called Single Form).
The course will be delivered in Kabul, Afghanistan, over 6 consecutive days, from April 21 until April 26, everyday from 09:00 to 16:00 hours.
Participants must be Afghan citizens, have fluent proficiency of the English language, hold an undergraduate degree in one of the social sciences and at least 2 years of relevant experience in program / project management and decision making OR hold a master’s degree in a relevant field and currently working in program / project management.
