On the occasion of the launch of the Netherlands’ National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) for 2016-2019, APPRO was invited to give a presentation to the Embassy of the Netherlands in Kabul on March 10, 2016. The presentation outlined the contents and implications of Afghanistan Government’s commitment to address UNSCR 1325 and its subsequent resolutions through its own National Action Plan for the implementation of UNSCR 1325 (NAP 1325), released in June 2015 covering the period 2015-2022.

Adopted in 2000, United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (UNSCR 1325) officially acknowledges women’s right to participate in all aspects of conflict prevention and resolution, peacekeeping, and peace building, and inclusion in decision making bodies at all levels of governance. The presentation drew attention to the concrete implications of the four pillars of Prevention, Participation, Protection and Relief and Recovery, based on APPRO’s ongoing work on women in society.
